Once the soul is stored in the Garden and in Eden it observes all of the worlds above it and it longs to elevate itself to the higher worlds. But the only way for the soul to be accepted to the higher worlds is if the soul descends to this world first. As a result, the souls which are stored in the Garden and in Eden constantly fight to come down to this world.
When a soul is chosen to come down to this world, it is warned that its journey in this world is very difficult and that in this world it will be exposed to both goodness and evil. The soul is also warned that if it chooses the path of evil it will undergo judgment and it will be punished and it may not be allowed back into the Garden or Eden until it renders its judgment. The soul is also warned that the only way it could be elevated to the higher worlds is if it follows the path of goodness and performs acts of kindness to others. If, despite all of these warnings, the soul decides to come down in this lowly world, it descends to this world.
When the soul is entrapped in its body in this lowly world, it will be exposed to both goodness and evil so that it is free to choose the path it wishes to follow. This is the explanation as to why G.. created evil in this world for without evil, the soul would not have an opportunity to differentiate between good and evil and therefore choose. Depending on the soul's choice, G.. will direct them through life: If the soul chooses the path of goodness, G.. will orient the soul in a direction that will enable the soul to do good. If the soul chooses to do evil, G.. will orient the soul in a direction that will enable the soul to do evil.
Because it is very difficult for the soul to be in this world, G.. shows mercy on the souls when they are trapped in their earthly bodies. As a result, rather than judging the soul on the first fault it commits in this world, G.. is patient and does not render judgment on the soul until it departs from this world. By doing so, G.. allows the soul who has stray from the path of righteousness to return to such path. In certain circumstances, G.. will send the merciful angels described above to come down and assist the souls that are suffering in this world. Once the soul departs from this world, however, the soul is judged and no mercy is shown on said soul.
People often ask what is the purpose of the Torah and its commandments. The answer is that the Torah and its commandments are the tools that G.. has given to mankind to follow the path of goodness. By studying the Torah and by performing acts of kindness to others, we simulate the ways of G.. Almighty and we are able to elevate our soul in this world.
After one's death (be it a man or a women) their soul will be sent to one of three destinations depending on the path chosen by the soul in this world. For those souls which have chosen the path of righteousness, they will be transformed into angels and sent directly to the “ Garden of Eden .” There, they will be whipped with whips of fire for the sins they have committed in this world. Thereafter, the soul will have the opportunity to reach the four worlds above depending on their merit. If the soul wants to keep on climbing until the Tenth world, it will have to undergo multitudes of reincarnations in wholly animals before it can continue its assent.
As for those souls which have not chosen the path of righteousness but have not chosen the path of total evilness, these souls are returned and stationed once again in either the Garden or in Eden depending on the amount of good deeds that the soul had performed in this world: If the soul is full of good deeds, it will be sent to Eden and if the soul is empty of good deeds, it will be sent to the Garden. Once these souls are placed in either the Garden or Eden, they will remain there until the Judges of the Eight and Ninth Worlds judges them for their sins.
This is the secret to the concept of “Garden of Eden.” Those who knew this secret were very few: Adam; the second Hevel 11; Shet and Enosh. Thereafter, the secret of the two antechambers was concealed to mankind so that those who chose the path of total evilness would be ousted from true “Garden of Eden” which is the Fifth World as described before.
11. Eve gave birth to Cain and then she gave birth to twins (the first Hevel and the second Hevel).
